Project Description
The fight against HIV/AIDS in Nsanje district has reached a major milestone, with 468 treatment defaulters (206 males and 262 females) successfully brought back into care within just 12 months. This achievement marks the successful completion of the Community Driven HIV/AIDS Response project, funded by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF).
Project Objectives:
- Promote drug adherence among people living with HIV through the engagement 15 Expert Clients in Nsanje district by 2024
- To reduce stigma and discrimination against people living or affected by HIV through the mobilization of communities on ICT and STI treatment and TB screening and provide linkage to care by the end of 2024
- To revamp and strengthening community and district level linkage to care pathways
Activities Carried Out Under AHF Funded Project
- 15 Expert Clients were engaged and trained
- Three health facilities were targeted – Ndamera, Mbenje and Nsanje district hospital
- The project was implemented in partnership with Nsanje district health office especially ART department.
- 15 expert clients were provided with push bicycles to ease there mobility
- 5 support groups in Ndamera, Chimombo, Ngabu, Makoko and Malemia were revamped
- 80 religious and traditional leaders were mobilized on HIV prevention, care and support
- 90 men were trained as HIV, TB and STIs prevention Champions.
